It´s a chipboard (3 layers), which gets plated with a natural fine wood.

It comes in a sand down finish , so you can give  the finish directly, although it´s always better to give a hand of steel wood 00 or 000 in the way of the grain. You can dye it , varnish it, polish it, paint it, and lacquer it . You have to cover the edges with tape or casing. It´s not a cheap board, and it´s price can change depending on the type of wood used to cover the chipboard. It´s commercialized in the same thickness as chipboard. The measure of the board is 244 x 122 cm.

It´s usually used to make up all type of quality furniture, combining it with strip bars or, parts of solid wood. The modern furniture uses this type of board, just for it´s  beauty and dimensional stability. It doesn’t support much the dampness (depends on the finish that it´s done with), and it´s not suitable for outdoors.
